packer's block.

We close on our house in 18 days.
There are 2 years of stuff, furniture, wedding gifts, clothes and junk to pack up.
You do the math.

I'm literally sitting here and looking at all of our stuff, and I can't make myself pack yet! I don't know what the deal is! We technically don't have to be out of our apartment until August 10th, but we really want to live in the house as soon as possible... Argh.

Any advice on how to get my lazy, procrastinating self to get up the will to pack?
I've heard the whole "do it room by room" thing, but that's not working either.

I wouldn't pack until the day or so before you have the keys... otherwise you will just be living amongst boxes and that's no fun!

We're in the same boat with packing and as much as I hate it, I find pouing a big glass of wine helps me work, ha!

I agree about living in boxes. If you can't move for 18 more days don't start paking for prob about 10 more days. Then as you get stuff packed (and believe me it will go fast as you get excited about moving it) you can move it to the new house and don't have to live in boxes. I think we packed up our apt in prob 3 days. Good luck! Oh and bc I know you are kinda organized and stuff like me if you go to the uhual storage places and walk into the store area they have these great stickers that have all the names of the rooms in a house. Great for labeling your boxes!

I'm a freak of nature who actually likes packing... call me when you're ready and I'll bring boxes and a bottle of chardonnay :)

I don't have any great words of advice, other than saying I know how you feel. Once you make that first dent, it picks up pretty quickly.

Put on some classic Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey, slip into some athletic shorts and a tank top, grab your favorite sonic drink, and lots of trash bags and go for it!
